There are a lot of cool Detroiters doing great stuff for the business world, and we wanted to share a few of them with you today. We don’t have anywhere near the server space to highlight every single person we’d like to, but here’s a small sampling of Detroit LinkedIn influencers who are inspiring us lately.
Mallory Brown is a humanitarian activist who has dedicated her life to improving conditions for others at home and abroad. A native Michigander, she recently headlined 86,402 Seconds in Detroit, an impact project to create a weekly barbecue for the homeless, which ultimately raised 138% of its goal.
Chad Wiebesick is an expert in social marketing and tourism who has worked hard to promote the Mitten State as an ideal place to visit. He helped popularize Pure Michigan and is a founding member of the Social Media Association of Michigan. Chad continues to travel worldwide to give lectures on networking and travel.
Terry Bean is a name you’ve already seen on Onenie. We’re lucky enough to have him as our networking strategist, and Terry’s enthusiasm and humor make him a pleasure to work with. Aside from Onenie, Terry also runs Motor City Connect, Detroit’s choice business networking group.
Dr. ZaLonya Allen is the president and CEO of the National Entrepreneurs Association, an organization that fosters success for business owners by offering premier networking and training opportunities. ZaLonya is famous for her passion and wide range of expertise, and her public speaking has received rave reviews.
Linda Anger is a writer and marketer. As the owner of The Write Concept, Linda has mastered the art of composing text that goes far beyond just filling a space and plays a part in a company’s greater mission. Linda has earned the designation of Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest title awarded by Toastmasters International.
Carla Walker-Miller currently serves as president of the Michigan chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy as well as the CEO of her own business, Walker-Miller Energy Services. In addition, she’s the director of the Water Access Volunteer Effort Fund, whose mission is to ensure every Detroiter has water.
Brad Zimmerman is a coaching professional whose goal is to improve leadership in healthcare and government as well as education, having worked with Birmingham Public Schools. He also sits on the board of the Judson Center, a non-profit agency that provides services to families in need.
Eileen Vernor has worked in human resources for decades and worked with organizations including DTE Energy and Detroit Medical Center. Eileen also volunteers with Vista Maria, a child welfare agency that specializes in serving the needs of girls and young women in Southeast Michigan.
LaVar Harris is the Finance & Events Manager at Adcraft Detroit as well as a longtime volunteer at Junior Chamber International Michigan, a nonprofit group that helps young people build business connections. Along with his knowledge of accounting, LaVar is also an accomplished public speaker and networker.
Cyndee Harrison is known for her talent in market planning. After working for some of Michigan’s most successful businesses in education, luxury goods, and media for years, she recently founded her a company of her own, Synaptic. She also previously served on the board of the Grosse Pointe Farms Boat Club.
