Hockey season is going strong, and it’s looking exciting so far. Onenie has the scoop on everything you’ll need to maximize the fun and take full advantage of everything this awesome sport has to offer.

Get Connected to Watch the Games

Make sure you have access to a service that will let you watch all the games you want to. If you’re interested in watching games for teams outside your region, you will need a separate out-of-market subscription. If you’d like to watch on your television, you can sign up for NHL Center Ice through your cable provider. You also have the option to stream the games on any internet-enabled device with a subscription to NHL.TV, which offers recurring or single-use options.

Support Your Team and Look the Part

Let the world know who your favorite team or player is by getting your hands on some of their apparel. You can get gear from sporting goods stores or directly from the NHL. If you feel like splurging, you can even spring for an article of clothing or collectible that’s been signed by a player. Warning: if you choose to wear your jersey at an away game, Onenie takes no responsibility for any arguments that may ensue from fans of the opposing team.

Brush Up on Your Own Skills

Yeah, yeah, we know – the main event is seeing your favorite players do their thing. But in between games, why not work on your own skills around the rink? If you don’t have anyone to practice with, not to fear! Get yourself a hockey puck rebounder and you’ll be a pro at making goals in no time. Then, invite over a friend who roots for a rival team and blindside ‘em with a surprise game.

Stay Up-to-Date

It’s a good bet that most of your favorite players and sports insiders are on social media, so be sure to subscribe to their posts if you haven’t already. Oh, and don’t forget to follow your team’s mascot on Twitter, which is usually a goldmine of strange and humorous content. You’ll probably want to download the NHL’s official app, too.

Decide What to Watch When the Games Aren’t On

None of your favorite teams are playing, but you just can’t pull yourself away from the TV, right? Tune in to some of the best hockey movies: Goon, Miracle, and The Rocket are all classics, and while you’re at it, why not watch an episode of Mighty Ducks or two? Hey, those snacks sure aren’t going to eat themselves, you know, and you might as well have something good to watch.

Have fun!

Remember, hockey is a sport, and sports are about having fun! Winning is great, but it’s not everything. I wouldn’t know for sure, because I’ve never lost anything, but that’s what people tell me. There’s also teamwork and athleticism and blah blah blah. Can you turn the volume up, please? And pass me those corn chips.
